Dark Lord Day 2012

For those not living in the Midwest, you may or may not know about Three Floyds brewery, from Munster, IN, but they have become a staple and leader of the Midwest micro industry for a considerably longer time than many others. One of the big events they run every year is “Dark Lord Day,” an event where one buys tickets (that sell out in under three (3) minutes online, mind you) for the right to buy four (4) bottles of a special Russian Imperial Stout brew. If this is your thing, do it. If you’re a collector, go for it. You can make coin on eBay. What happens: You wait in line all day. And I mean early morning to hazy late afternoon. You drink some of their other brews. You get crazy. Other crazy stuff happens. You eat moderately good BBQ. Heavy metal bands play. To me, the description fits. It does have a session feel to it – from the front’s subtle citrus flavor, the lacing, the color, down to the finish – this beer is simply not the full-out, blow your head off hop. That said, it is a classic, and one I enjoy, though not nearly as much as others. Check ‘em out: @dogfishbeer
